Pygmy Lush Old Friends
Good lord was this a surprise to my ears, given that I’d held off listening to this lp on the pretence that I thought it would be of the scream genre (especially due to the pg.99 connection), I was taken aback when I finally sat down with the record.

Deep Sleep Turn Me Off
10 Songs, 14 minutes, from that information alone it tells you that this is either a long grindcore album or some cracking punk rock that is self aware enough not to over indulge in their songs.

By Surprise Mountain Smashers
For some reason Mountain Smashers wasn’t on my list of most anticipated lps of year, a mistake I now openly admit to after hearing the damn record. I guess that leaves it wide open to make an obvious pun about how the record took me ‘By Surprise’, but I won’t.

Restorations Strange Behavior
2009’s Of Trees/Frankfort 7” was one of my favourite releases of that year, which is why I’m grateful that Philadelphia’s Restorations haven’t deviated too far from the original material.
